Hydrogel is used for a variety of applications in a range of fields, including medicine,
soft contact lens, food production, and agriculture. The gels are most commonly known,
however, for being a component in plastic surgery. Hydrogel injections are used as soft
tissue fillers in the face, lips, and buttocks to increase their size and make them more
aesthetically pleasing. Hydrogel is a transparent, injectable dermal filler implant
ontaining 97.5% water bound to 2.5% cross-linked polyacrylamide, which has been
especially designed for soft tissue correction. Polyacrylamide is non biodegradable
and does not migrate. Hydrogel will last for many years. It is important to understand
that this product is not absorbable and is not removable without risk of visible scarring.
Hydrogel has been used for over 15 years for which time;
volume is known to remain stable. There is no reason to believe that there would be
a significant decrease of volume for many more years
As the swelling subsides there will be some loss of volume. For this reason more implant
sessions may be necessary in order to obtain the desired final results.
The procedure usually takes only a couple of hours. Like most cosmetic procedures,
there are side effects to hydrogel treatments These include swelling, a slight rise
in temperature, and uneven deformity of the buttocks. Side effects are usually temporary,
subsiding within a few days. Sometimes, however, damage
