Brave the Arctic tour

The ICEHOTEL in Sweden is a unique way to experience the Arctic and catch a glimpse of the Northern lights this winter. In addition to being a hotel completely made of ice, which is no mean feat we're sure you can appreciate, the hotels real wow factor strikes you as enter the lobby and explore the individually designed Art Suites. Each year the ICEHOTEL hold a competition worldwide for artists to offer their interpretations and designs of an Ice bedroom and the result must be seen to be believed. In October the building and sculpting process begins and come December they are open for business, with a hotel completely different in shape, style and design from the previous year.

Whilst at the ICEHOTEL, once you have marvelled at the rooms, learnt how to survive while you spend the night in a hotel kept at a consistent -5 degrees, and toyed with the idea of whether you could get married or renew your vows in a chapel made of ice its time to crack on with the activities and there are plenty to choose from.

Dog sledding through the wilderness and over frozen lakes is an exhilarating way to spend the day, ice sculpting is fun for the children and creatives and the moose safari on horseback is a beautiful, tranquil way to explore the wild without the barking of huskies and the whirr of snowmobiles surrounding you. It is highly recommended that you book these before you travel as it is considerably cheaper to do so and we would hate for you to miss out.

When's the best time to visit you ask? This year, from December, to March 2012. The Northern lights cycle peaks winter 2011-2012 so the lights you will see are expected to be the most spectacular and vibrant show for the next 6-7 years.
