Description
Shiatsu is a Japanese word meaning "finger pressure". As well as finger pressure a treatment combines stretches, joint rotations and pressure using palms and thumbs. When your body is unbalanced, temporary blockages, for example around joints, can appear as physical ailments such as inflammation. Shiatsu promotes the smooth flow of energy (ki), it removes blockages and supports the mind and body in finding its natural balance.
Before you receive treatment, the practitioner will take a case history in order to assist in a clear diagnosis of your condition using Oriental Medical theory. The practitioner may also take a Hara diagnosis which involves light palpation of the abdomen.
After a treatment people often feel more relaxed, open, energised and aligned.
Treatment can be beneficial for back pain, stress, headaches, whiplash injuries, neck stiffness, joint pain, insomnia, depression, menstrual problems, reduced mobility and many sports injuries amongst other ailments.
Clients should wear loose comfortable clothing.
