Description
We have standard frames for straight empires, french drums and squares but with our on-site wireworks, we can make almost any shape to your specification. We can supply shades with fittings for lamp bases or ceiling pendants and candle shades for chandeliers or wall brackets.
Our shades are hand made using 100 per cent silks in a range of colours and textures. They can be lined with silk or taffeta and are usually self-trimmed.
We generally use Chinese antung silks for box-pleated and knife-pleated shades. The pleats can be pinched or smocked to create different effects. Indian duppion silks can be gathered into small pleats.
Bowed empires or ovals and bowed or straight sided squares can be made up using stretched Indian duppion silk, Chinese antung or nanking, or for more texture, a linen-look tussah silk.
